Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Matthew 24:34 says that this generation shall not pass until all these things to be fulfilled, and a generation is 70 years according to Psalm 90:10. Israel is always the gauge, thus before it hits 70th birthday, things must occur. 2016 hits at 68th.
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
The word “flight” here is referring to the Rapture, because it is an action flying through the air, just as the Rapture will catch away the bride through the air. Remember that Matthew 24 was not written in chronological order. The mention of Great Tribulation occurs right after the mentioning of the “flight”. This is confirming the Rapture will happen in the midst of the 7 years of tribulation, and not at the beginning of the 7 years. The purpose of the bride escaping the wrath of God still remains true, for the wrath of God right now is not in full yet. The world is currently experiencing the first half of the 3.5 years of tribulation judgments partially.
