Genesis 9:23: Backward-Forward
And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
First of all, the meaning of backward-forward is that those who humble themselves will be able to go forward. Jesus carried His cross on the back of His shoulder as He walked forward to be crucified. Shem and Japheth represent Jesus and the Bride both carrying the heavy cross on their shoulders in humility to be crucified.
Secondly, this verse is about being forgiven of our sins that God will not remember about it anymore, because covering the nakedness of their father means that our shame is being covered in the righteous garment through the blood of Christ.
