Av 9 is decoded as 911, because Av—the fifth month of the Jewish calendar is also the eleventh month counting from Rosh Hashanah. Thus, Av 9 is 11/9 = 9/11. Both the 1st and 2nd temples were destroyed on this very date. Ironically, the 911 attack was also the falling of “buildings”, and even there were two towers collapsed.
